Mircea "Gil" Mărdărescu (born April 12, 1952 in Săcele ) is a former Romanian football player .
Mărdărescu was in 1975 as a midfielder in New York Cosmos team-mate of Pelé . Since he could not assert himself at Cosmos, Mărdărescu moved to the Rochester Lancers after five appearances in the North American Soccer League during the current season . He was hardly used there either, but scored his only goal in the NASL. In 1980 he was active for New York United in the American Soccer League .
His father Virgil Mărdărescu won the Africa Cup of Nations as a coach in 1976 with Morocco .
