Giləki (گیلکی in Persian and Gilaki in German) is a north-west Iranian language and is spoken in the Iranian province of Gilan .
Gilaki is divided into two dialects: Rashti and Berggilaki (Gilaschi; spoken in the Gilan Mountains). Gilaki is related to Mazandarani and the two languages share some words. Although Gilaki is one of the northwest Iranian languages, it appears to be related to the Persian dialect of eastern Iran as well as Central Asia. A Dari speaker is able to understand a Gilaki speaker with almost no problems and to converse with him.
