Gilbert Rahm

Gilbert Rahm OSB (born September 21, 1885 in Bonn ; † April 14, 1954 , Newark Abbey , New Jersey , USA ; born Franz Rahm) was a German clergyman and zoologist.

He was a Benedictine in the Abbey of Maria Laach and received the name Gilbert from Maria Laach when he entered the Abbey am See in 1906 after the first abbot of the Gilbert Monastery .

Rahm was one of the founders of the International Limnologists Association , founded in 1923, and completed his habilitation in Freiburg in 1925 with his contribution to the knowledge of the moss fauna of the Prussian Rhineland .
