The Gilgen desert is a settlement, first mentioned in 1262 but abandoned in 1519 , near the Haimar part of the town of Sehnde .

location

The Gilgen desert is located between the towns of Haimar and Mehrum and between the Mittelland Canal to the north and the federal highway 65 running south .

history

The place Gilgen was first mentioned in 1262. He had about 27 places to live and, according to a legend, also had a church.

In the course of the Hildesheim collegiate feud from 1519 to 1523, the place was destroyed at the beginning. The people living there evidently moved to Haimar.
