Giommaria Uggias

Giommaria Uggias (born March 29, 1961 in Villanova Monteleone in Sardinia ) is an Italian politician of the Italia dei Valori party .

Uggias was Mayor of Olbia from 1995 to 1997 , after which he was a member of the Sassari Province Council . In 2009 he was elected to the European Parliament . Of the originally elected MPs from the Insulare constituency , he was the only Sardinian, the other elected MPs all came from the island of Sicily .

Uggias is in the Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe .

He is a member of the Committee on Transport and Tourism and the Delegation for relations with Japan. He is a deputy in the Committee for Regional Development and in the delegation in the EU-Croatia Joint Parliamentary Committee.
