Giovanni Battista Dalla Gostena
Giovanni Battista Dalla Gostena (also Della Gostena ; * in Genoa ; † September 1593 ibid) was an Italian lutenist , conductor and composer .
Dalla Gostena's date of birth is unknown and is controversial in research (speculations stretch over the period from 1530 to 1555). Nothing is known about his youth and education. From 1584 to 1589 he worked in his hometown at San Lorenzo as a priest and conductor. Dalla Gostena was shot dead in unknown circumstances.
He created sacred vocal music, including polyphonic madrigals , but also secular music, especially for lute.
