Giovanni Gallina

Giovanni Gallina (active in Nicosia in the 17th century) was an Italian baroque sculptor in Sicily .

Life

He was probably a student of the sculpture workshop Li Volsi in Nicosia. In 1633 Gallina was appointed to decorate the town hall in Syracuse . Works by him have been preserved in Enna, Leonforte and Santa Lucia del Mela.

In the years 1646 to 1652 Gallina carried out a wooden simulacrum of St. Nicholas enthroned on the chair for the “Collegio di San Nicolò von Enna” in order to beautify the church. In the first half of the 17th century he was mainly active in the center of Sicily.
