Giovanni Garzoni

Giovanni Garzoni (also Garzo ; * 1419 in Bologna ; † January 28, 1505 ibid) was an Italian humanist , rhetorician and teacher.

From 1466 to 1505 he was professor of medicine at the University of Bologna . His students included Erasmus Stella , Theodoricus Block and Christoph von Scheurl . He was Leandro Alberti's tutor . He left several writings.

Twelve years after his death, Stella published Johannes Garzo De rebus Saxoniæ, Thuringiæ, Libanothiæ, Misniæ et Lusatiæ .

The Venetian Giovanni Garzo, who taught canon law in Padua from 1438 to 1454, is not identical to Giovanni Garzoni.
