Giovanni Haag (born May 30, 2000 in Metz ) is a French football player . The defensive midfielder has been with AS Nancy since he was young and once played for the French U19 national team .

childhood

Haag spent his childhood in Saint-Avold in Lorraine, not far from the German border . His mother of Italian descent died when he was 15 years old.

Career

Giovanni Haag had played football for Etoile Naborienne Saint-Avold before moving to the AS Nancy youth academy . The defensive midfielder played his first professional game in November 2018; by the end of the second division season 2018/19 he had a total of three missions and finished 14th in the table with AS Nancy. Otherwise, he gained match practice in the second team.

Giovanni Haag was loaned to Gazélec FC Ajaccio in the French third division in January 2020 . Until the end of the season, which was due to the Corona crisis , he came to seven missions for the Corsican, all over 90 minutes. After returning to Nancy, Haag signed a professional contract.

National team

On February 13, 2019, Haag played his only game for the French U19 national team in a 2-1 defeat in the friendly against Italy in Siena .
