Giovanni Battista Reali (* 1681 in Venice ; † 1751 ) was an Italian violinist, composer and conductor.

Life

Giovanni Battista Reali has left few traces in musical history. He began his career in Venice, where he first worked as a music teacher. In 1709 he published his Trio Sonatas Op. 1 there, consisting of Capricci and Sonatas for 2 violins and bass, which he dedicated to Arcangelo Corelli . One often hears the folia variations from this collection . A short time later his op. 2, 12 Sonatas for violin and bass, also went to press in Venice. A reprint was published by Estienne Roger in Amsterdam as early as 1712 . In January 1711 he was recorded as a violinist in the orchestra of the Venetian Teatro San Fantin .

In 1727 Reali became Kapellmeister to the Duke of Guastalla , after which his traces are lost.
