His brother Giacomo Tedesco is also a professional football player.

Career

Giovanni Tedesco started playing football at Reggina Calcio . In 1990 the midfielder made the leap into the first team. After three years, two of them in Serie C1 and one in Serie B , Tedesco moved to Fiorentina and helped the team to rise to Serie A , in which he made his debut on September 4, 1994. From 1995 to 1997 Tedesco played for the US Foggia , in the 1997/98 season he was under contract with Salernitana Sport .

In October 1998 Tedesco moved to AC Perugia , where he became a leading player and was temporarily also captain . In January 2004 he went to CFC Genoa in Serie B and rose with the team in the 2004/05 season. Due to bribery, Genoa was refused promotion in 1893 and the team was forced to move to Serie C1 in 2005/06. Tedesco initially remained loyal to the club, but moved to Palermo in January 2006, his native city .

On January 8, 2006 Tedesco completed his 500th professional game there. In July 2010 he ended his active career and - after two coaching stations in Malta - took over the position of team manager at US Palermo for a few weeks .
