Giovanny Manuel Báez Álvarez (born April 9, 1981 in Nobsa ) is a Colombian cyclist .

Giovanny Báez won a stage in the Vuelta a Venezuela in 2004 . The next year he was successful on sections of the Vuelta a León , the Semana Aragonesa and the Cinturó de l'Empordà . On the latter tour he was also first overall. In 2006 he drove for the Atom cycling team , where he won the Circuito de Combita and a stage with overall classification at the Clásica Club Deportivo Boyacá. From 2007 to 2013 Baez drove for the Colombian Continental Team UNE-Orbitel . In his first year there, he won a stage at the Vuelta al Valle and at the Clásica Nacional Ciudad de Anapoima and was able to win the overall standings in both races.

2008 won the overall ranking of the Vuelta a Colombia . The following year he won a stage in the same race. In 2010 he won a stage of the Tour de Santa Catarina in Brazil . In addition, Baez took overall victory and two stages in the Vuelta a Guatemala . In 2011 he won a stage win in Europe for the first time in his career at the Vuelta a la Comunidad de Madrid . In 2012 he won the overall standings at the Vuelta Mundo Maya . He also secured a stage.

Baez currently only drives for small regional teams in Colombia.
