Summit of the peoples
The Summit of the Peoples ( Spanish: Cumbre de los Pueblos ) sees itself as a counter-event to the America Summit and is directed against the policy of the American Free Trade Area ( FTAA ). The third congress of this kind took place from November 1st to 5th, 2005 in Mar del Plata , Argentina . It was mainly politically committed people from North , Central and South America who campaigned for social and against neoliberal politics on the American continent. In contrast to the America Summit, which also took place in Mar del Plata from November 4th to 5th, 2005 , Cuba was represented at the Summit of the Nations.
