Girl in a Country Song ( English for girls in a country song ) is a song of the American Country duos Maddie & Tae from the 2015 released album Start Here . It was released as the pair's debut single in July 2014. The song was written by the members of the duo together with Aaron Scherz, who produced it together with Dann Huff .

content

In the song the trend of bro country (from English Bro - brother) is taken up. In the past few years, many people in small towns have been partying with trucks, beer and barely clad women. Tae Dye criticizes, for example, that male singers mainly address women with the words "Hey girl". It is a trend that has become irresponsible towards women, and the two singers wanted to show it from their perspective.

“Bein 'the girl in the country song - how in the world did it go so wrong?
Like all we're good for is looking good for you and your friends on the weekend, nothing more. "

“Being the girl on a country song - how on earth could it go so wrong?
As if everything we're good for is looking good for you and your friends on the weekend, and nothing more. "

- Maddie & Tae : lyrics

The song also contains many allusions to other country songs, including Get me Some of That by Thomas Rhett , Aw Naw by Chris Young , Redneck Crazy by Tyler Farr , My Kinda Party by Jason Aldean , Boys Round Here by Blake Shelton and Get Your Shine on by Florida Georgia Line .

Country Universe's Kevin John Coyne rated the song A. He wrote, "Maddie & Tae wrote and recorded the antidote to what's going wrong in country music right now." In 2015, Girl in a Country Song won a Golden Boot Award for Song of the Year.
