Girolamo Macchietti
Girolamo Macchietti , called del Crocefissiaio , (* 1535 in Florence , † 1592 ibid) was a Florentine painter. His work can be assigned to mannerism .
Life
Macchietti was a student of Michaele Tosinio , then Giorgio Vasari's assistant in painting the Palazzo Vecchio . Then he continued his education in Rome . From about 1565 he worked as a freelance painter of portraits and altarpieces in Florence. Evidence shows that he was in Naples around 1570 ; there is no reliable information about a stay in Spain .
