Giti Tire is a Singapore- based tire manufacturer with eight plants and more than 32,000 employees in a market in over 130 countries.
In terms of profit, Giti was 10th on the list of tire manufacturers in 2014.
history
Giti's roots go back to 1951. In the beginning, bicycle tires and inner tubes were produced in Indonesia, and later bias tires for cars and commercial vehicles. The company expanded to China in 1993 and formed a joint venture with Anhui Tire Factory, an independent third-party company for the manufacture of bias tires. In 1998 Giti founded its own sales and distribution centers and two years later built a factory for the production of car tires. Since then, the company has continued to expand internationally, opening offices and distribution centers around the world.
In 2005, Giti acquired 22.5% of the shares in Gajah Tunggal, an Indonesia-based tire manufacturer listed on the Jakarta Stock Exchange. This owns the largest independent tire factories in Southeast Asia. On April 1, 2011, Giti increased its stake in Gajah Tunggal to approximately 49.7%.
In June 2014, the company announced that it would build a USD 560 million manufacturing facility in South Carolina , USA. It is Giti's first factory outside of Asia.
In February 2016, Walmart USA named Giti as the automotive outfitter of the year.

Connections to motorsport
Giti sponsors drivers and events with its brands Giti and GT Radial. Among other things, they are the main sponsor of Volkswagen Motorsports events in China such as the Formula Masters China and the Scirocco R-Cup China.
In the United States, Giti sponsors the Japanese Nobuhiro Tajima in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Championship; he won the Electric Auto division in 2013.
With the brands GT Radial, the company also sponsors several drivers in the US Formula Drift .
Girls Only
In the 2019 motorsport season, the WS Racing team started with its partner Giti Tire, a new Golf GTI TCR and an all-women team under the project name "Girls only" . The aim of the team, which is led by team manager Nicole Willems and complemented by drivers Jasmin Preisig, Carrie Schreiner and Ronja Assmann, was to gain extensive training and racing experience in advance of the planned participation in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring 2019 to collect. In the calendar for 2019, starts are planned for a total of 5 races of the VLN endurance championship and participation in the ADAC 24h race (June 20-23, 2019).
