Giuseppe Caselli

Giuseppe Caselli (born July 5, 1893 in Luzzara , † December 19, 1976 in La Spezia ) was an Italian painter .

Life

Caselli was born in Luzzara ( Emilia-Romagna ) in 1893 . He was a student of Felice Del Santo and Antonio Discovolo . In 1913 he came into contact with the painter and writer Lorenzo Viani . During the First World War , Caselli was imprisoned in a concentration camp in Austria .

He later studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence . His first paintings mark the start of Divisionism at the beginning of the twentieth century and also a personal expressionism , close to the Austrian revolutionary movements.

In 1933 Caselli participated in the " Golfo Painting Award of La Spezia ", organized by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti .

Caselli died in La Spezia in 1976 .
