Giuseppe Felici
Giuseppe Felici (born 1839 in Cagli ; died March 12, 1923 in Rome ) was an Italian photographer.
Life
Giuseppe Felici came to Rome at the age of 20 to study the violin at the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia . Instead, he turned to the new technique of photography and photographed various views of Rome, in addition to the well-known monuments also in the suburbs. In 1863 he founded a photography studio , Fotografia Felici , in Via di Ripetta .
After portraying some papal Zouaves , Felici was commissioned to make a photographic portrait of Pope Pius IX. and from then on he photographed for the Vatican. At the Vatican exhibition in 1888 he was by Pope Leo XIII. honored with a gold medal. In 1901 he received the title of " Pope's Photographer ".
The Felici company in Via Cola di Rienzo remained the official photographer of the Vatican for the next four generations.
