Giusto Catania

Giusto Catania (born June 10, 1971 in Palermo ) is an Italian politician and member of the European Parliament for the Partito della Rifondazione Comunista (PRC), which is part of the European Left . He is Vice-President of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) of the European Parliament, Chairman of the EU-Chile Joint Parliamentary Committee, Deputy for the Delegation for relations with the Maghreb countries and the Union of the Arab Maghreb (including Libya ) , Deputy in the Committee on Culture and Education and member of the Conference of Delegation Chairs and the Delegation to the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly.

Life

Giusto Catania obtained his degree in modern philology in 1996 and the qualification to teach literature in 2001. Since 2004 he has been working on a research doctorate in intercultural pedagogy at the University of Palermo .

From 1994 to 1996 he was responsible for the Federazione Giovanile Comunisti Italiani (Young Communists of the PRC) in Sicily and member of the party secretariat of the Sicily Region, from 1996 to 2001 he was General Secretary of the PRC at provincial level (Palermo section). Since 2001 he has been the regional secretary general of the PRC in Sicily.

From 1997 to 2000 he was city councilor and parliamentary group leader of the PRC in the municipality of Palermo, in 2000 he was appointed cultural director of the city of Palermo.
