Gjortsche Petrov
Gjortsche Petrow ( Bulgarian Гьорче Петров ; born April 2, 1865 in Varoš near Prilep , † June 28, 1921 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian - Macedonian revolutionary.
Life
Petrov was one of the founders of what later became known as the Inner Macedonian Revolutionary Organization (IMRO), a revolutionary Bulgarian and Slavic-Macedonian liberation movement. He was one of their leaders. During against the Ottoman Empire directed Ilinden Uprising in 1903 he was commander of a major unit of the insurgents. At IMRO congresses around 1905 he represented positions of the left wing. So he took part in the Rila Congress in 1905 . At the congress he was elected as a representative of the organization alongside Petar Poparsow and Dimitar Stefanow .
He was murdered in 1921.
