Rottmünde glassworks, around 1900

The Rottmünde glassworks was established in 1856 in the Rottmündal valley in Solling on the road between Neuhaus im Solling and Boffzen . It produced hollow glass until it was closed in 1902 .

The founder of the glassworks was Georg Norbert Becker from Westphalia (1799–1879), a member of a glassmaking family with a long tradition. As early as 1850 he founded the Becker glassworks as a table glassworks in nearby Neuhaus im Solling . Later his son Ludwig Wilhelm Becker (1839–1913) took over the Rottmünde glassworks. In 1887 a fire led to the temporary cessation of operations and in 1902 the hut was closed due to the lack of cheap firewood. The hut owner offered the buildings to the forest administration for 40,000  marks . In 1921 individual buildings in the glassworks were demolished.
