Glendale (Zimbabwe)

Glendale is a 1,142 m high place with about 7,000 inhabitants in the Mazowe Valley 85 km north of Harare in the province of Mashonaland Central in Zimbabwe . It is on the Harare- Bindura road and railway line .

Corn, cotton and citrus fruits are planted in the surrounding area, and cattle and pigs are kept. It is an intensely used area.

In Glendale there is a large depot of the National Railways of Zimbabwe , a cotton warehouse and a spinning mill. A textile industry begins to develop in the place. In the Iron Duke Mine 15 km south of Glendale, pyrites ( pyrite ) are extracted. A mineral spring allows mineral water to be produced.

Glendale has an airstrip, elementary and secondary schools, and the Salvation Army Howard Hospital, which primarily serves AIDS sufferers - 25,000 in the district in 2006. Telephone and electricity are available.
