Glenn McCrory

Glenn McCrory (* 23. September 1964 in Annfield Plain , County Durham , England ) is a former British professional boxer and world champion of the Association IBF in the cruiserweight division .

Professional career

In 1984 McCrory made his professional debut, which he won against his compatriot Barry Ellis by classic knockout in the first round. He suffered his first defeat the following year against John Westgarth. In 1986 he lost a total of four times, including against the unbeaten Rudi Pika and the Swede Anders Eklund .

On September 4, he won the Commonwealth title and then defended it twice. In June 1989 he won the vacant IBF world championship title through a unanimous decision on points over Patrick Lumumba . Four months later he knocked out the South African Siza Makathini in his only title defense in round 11.

In 1991 he went against the unbeaten Lennox Lewis in round two difficult knockout. On July 16, 1993 he was allowed to box again for the world champion of the IBF cruiserweight association and failed by unanimous decision.
