Gliese 412 is believed to be a binary star system consisting of two red dwarfs in the constellation Great Bear (Ursa Major). The two stars are about 16 light years (4.9 parsecs ) away from Earth , making them one of the closest stars.
Gliese 412 A (HIP 54211) is the brightest component of the Gliese 412 system. Gliese 412 A has the spectral class M1 Ve. The star has an apparent magnitude of about 8.8.
Gliese 412 B (HIP 54211 B, WX Ursae Majoris) is a UV-Ceti star , which probably belongs to the same system with spectral class M6.0 V. Its apparent brightness is only about 14.4. According to Gaia DR2 , the star is at a distance of 15.97 ± 0.02 light years .
