Glin Castle on the River Shannon
Glin ( Irish : An Gleann ) is a place in County Limerick in the southwest of the Republic of Ireland .
Glin is in the far northwest of County Limerick, near the Kerry border , on the south bank of the mouth of the River Shannon . The place is located between Foynes in the east and Tarbert, seven kilometers away, in the west on the national road N69 .
The population of the place was determined by the Census 2016 with 576 people.
The current Glin Castle , more precisely known as the Georgian house , was built between 1780 and 1790; today it houses a luxury hotel. There are also the remains of the first castle, built around 1200.
