GlobalMalt

GlobalMalt is one of the leading malting groups in Germany and Poland. GlobalMalt produces around 200,000 tons of brewing malt per year in one plant in Hamburg and one in Bydgoszcz . Almost half of the production is exported to breweries in more than 40 countries around the world. Customer sizes range from brewpubs to large international brewery groups. The main product is light Pilsner malt (lager malt) made from 2- and 6-row brewing barley . GlobalMalt can also supply darker Viennese and Munich malts as well as wheat malt , stout malt and a wide variety of specialty malts .

history

GlobalMalt was created in 1922 when the entrepreneur Richard Eissenbeiss acquired the former Tivoli brewery in Hamburg-Eidelstedt and started malt production at Tivoli Werke AG . Over the years, shares in several breweries were acquired, which were then supplied with malt. With the growth of the breweries, malt production could be increased continuously. After the sale of the brewery holdings, Tivoli Malz GmbH is an independent commercial malt house .

In 2000 it was decided with the partner Schill Malz GmbH & Co KG to found GlobalMalt GmbH & Co KG and to found a subsidiary in Poland. In 2001 the newly founded GlobalMalt Polska Sp. Z oo took part in a malting plant in Bydgoszcz / Poland. In the following years the malt house was modernized and expanded. After the construction of a new two-tray kiln in 2009/2010, the annual malting capacity at GlobalMalt Polska is 85,000 tons.

In 2011, Tivoli Malz GmbH took over from the German co-shareholders their shares in GlobalMalt GmbH & Co KG and in GlobalMalt Polska Sp. Z oo After the Polish shareholder's minority stake in GlobalMalt Polska Sp. Z oo was also acquired in 2014 , the Tivoli Malz GmbH sole shareholder of both companies. On February 17, 2016, Anglia Maltings (Holdings) Ltd. Tivoli Malz GmbH and thus the GlobalMalt Group. Since then GlobalMalt has been part of the UK-based Crisp Malting Group with a total capacity of> 400,000 tons of malt (brewing and whiskey malt) per year.
