Global Network of Rainbow Catholics

The Global Network of Rainbow Catholics (GNRC) is an international association of Roman Catholics with an LGBT background.

history

The GNRC was created around the 2014 family synod in Rome . Roman Catholic LGBT people met there at the same time for a theological conference and founded the GNRC on October 3, 2014 . The founding members included:

  • Westminster Pastoral Council ( UK )
  • Wiara i Tecza ( Poland )

In the meantime (2018) the association has members from more than 35 countries. In 2015 there was a first joint meeting, in 2017 again, this time in Dachau and Munich .

structure

It is essentially an umbrella organization of relevant groups at national level and international organizations. Personal membership is also possible, which is particularly important for people from countries in which the state prevents LGBT associations from being set up.

GNCR is constituted as a non-profit association under Italian law , with its seat in Rome. Members from all continents are represented on the board. Business language is English .

GNCR is funded by donations and is supported by volunteer work.

aims

The association wants to strengthen the international networking of those affected vis-à-vis the also internationally positioned Roman Catholic Church . He wants to educate people through information material. He observes all official statements of the Roman Catholic Church and comments on their LGBT-relevant statements with his own statements. Within the Roman Catholic Church and beyond, he advocates pastoral care, integration, equality, especially equal participation, the recognition of LGBT people and their families, and the primacy of human rights , including against traditional traditions and dogmas . GNRC seeks to enter into dialogue with the Roman Catholic Church on these issues.
