Gebhard bell foundry

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Gebhard bell foundry was a bell foundry in Kempten (Allgäu) . Engelbert Gebhard took over the branch of the Ulrich bell foundry in Apolda around 1930 . The works from this period, which were initially created under the name Ulrich - from 1935 under the name Engelbert Gebhard - mostly did not survive the bell deliveries of the Second World War . Soon after the Second World War, the production of bells could be resumed. The foundry gave its customers five guarantees:

  • Lowest Prices
  • High quality material
  • First class execution
  • Punctual compliance with deadlines
  • Guaranteed sound disposition

In cooperation with the responsible bell expert of the diocese of Augsburg Paul Kuen, the Gebhard bell foundry mainly supplied churches in the Allgäu between 1946 and 1975 . There are also a few bells in Ausserfern and in Upper Swabia . A monumental bell with a total weight of over 14 tons was delivered to Rio de Janeiro . The largest bell of the Gebhard bell foundry today is the Marinus bell of the parish church of St. Martin in Kaufbeuren with over 4.2 tons. The bell of the St. Lorenz Basilica in Kempten (Allgäu) is particularly well known .
