Glycerol phosphate O-acyltransferases
Glycerol phosphate-O-acyltransferases ( GPAT ) are a group of enzymes from the metabolism of lipids .
properties
Probably the best characterized GPAT is glycerol-3-phosphate-O-acyltransferase 3 (GPAT3). GPAT are involved in the biosynthesis of glycerolipids . They transfer an acyl group from acyl-CoA to the hydroxyl group of glycerol-3-phosphate .
Some GPAT also use acylated glycerol-3-phosphate as a substrate and are also acylglycerol-3-phosphate-O-acyltransferases (AGPAT).
