Godehard Kayser

Godehard Kayser (born October 6, 1954 in Berlin ) is a German lawyer with a doctorate, honorary professor and former presiding judge at the Federal Court of Justice .

Career

After completing his legal training, Godehard Kayser entered the higher judicial service of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in 1981. After working as a trial reporter at the regional courts of Dortmund and Münster as well as at the district courts of Unna and Lünen and a delegation to the higher regional court Hamm , he was appointed judge at the regional court of Münster in 1986 . From 1988 to 1991 he was seconded to the Federal Court of Justice as a research assistant and then to the Federal Constitutional Court. In December 1991, he was appointed judge at the Hamm Higher Regional Court, of which he was a member until his transfer to the Federal Court of Justice on July 4, 2001. There he was appointed to the IX, who was primarily responsible for insolvency law and the law of attorney and tax advisor liability. Civil Senate , of which he was appointed deputy chairman in April 2008. Since November 17, 2010 he was chairman of this Senate; on June 30, 2020 he retired.

Kayser is a member of the editorial board of the trade journal ZIP (current title: Zeitschrift für Wirtschaftsrecht ) and has been an honorary professor at the University of Münster since 2008 and is co-editor of the Heidelberg Commentary and the Munich Commentary on the Insolvency Code.
