Hans Magel
Hans Magel (born December 12, 1905 in Darmstadt , † January 29, 1959 in Munich ) was a German actor on the stage, film and television.
Live and act
After completing his training, Magel began his stage career in the 1934/35 season at the Hessian State Theater in his hometown of Darmstadt. Almost at the same time he was seen at the Kammerspiele in Heidelberg and then in Frankfurt am Main, before he was drafted during the Second World War and used on the Eastern Front. There he was taken prisoner by the Soviets. Working as an actor again since 1950, Hans Magel found connections to both the stage world and the film business that year. He was a member of the ensemble of the Kammerspiele Munich throughout the 1950s.
Magel's roles were mostly quite small; so he was at the Kammerspiele as a geographer in Hacks' “ Opening of the Indian Age ”, as a theater critic in Saroyan's “ The Innocents ”, as the second god in Brecht's “ The Good Man of Sezuan ”, as Secretary Espinoza in Bruckner's “ Elizabeth of England ”And cast as the first actor in Pirandello's“ Six people are looking for an author ”. In an obituary in the Deutsches Bühnen-Jahrbuch it was said: “ His wonderful Riccaut de la Marlinière in Lessing's“ Minna von Barnhelm ”, his Mephisto in“ Urfaust ”are unforgettable. Hans Magel was an excellent speaker, a splendid mime ”.
Hans Magel died of a heart attack in the cloakroom immediately after an evening performance of “ The Great Day ” at Munich's Kammerspiele.
