Extensions in phase III

Branch to Najafgarh (line 9)

A branch line is being created as new line 9 from Dwarka station to Najafgarh. The line was planned as part of Phase III and will comprise three stations, one station being built underground. The work began in September 2013. The opening is scheduled for the end of 2018 and will have the color code gray.

Extension to Noida

In April 2014, the Delhi government approved an extension eastwards in the direction of Noida to Noida Electronic City. The new section will include six new stations and be approximately six kilometers long. The line was opened to traffic on March 8, 2019. Furthermore, there will be an extension towards Greater Noida , which will be operated as a separate line. For this purpose, Noida Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. founded. The junction was created in sector 52 and bears the color code Aqua in the Delhi Metro network, even if the line does not formally belong to the DMRC.

Further expansions in Ghaziabad

In order to improve the connections in Ghaziabad in the "Trans-Hindon" area, the DMRC submitted plans to extend the two branches to the Ghaziabad City Development Authority (GDA) in February 2018. They are formally not part of Phase IV, as the expansion will take place within Ghaziabad, which is in the state of Uttar Pradesh and not in Delhi. The extensions are referred to as Ghaziabad Phases 3 and 4.

As part of this expansion, Line 3 from Noida Electronic City is originally to be expanded by five stations to Sahibabad. Planned stops are Vaibhav Khand, Indirapuram, Shakti Khand, Sector 5 Vasudhara and Sahibabad. Line 4 was to be extended by four stations to Mohan Nagar to form the extended line 1. Vaishali's planned stops are Prahlad Garhi, Sector 14 Vsudhara, Sahibabad and Mohan Nagar. The expansion should improve the development within Ghaziabad and create a connection from Ghaziabad to Noida and Greater Noida. The route will be adjusted again in 2019 to create a better connection between Ghaziabad and Noida within Uttar Pradesh. Line 4 will be shortened to enable a direct connection between Line 3 and Line 1 of the metro. The direct changeover to the planned RRTS line Delhi – Meerut will be abandoned.
