The Noida-Greater-Noida-Linie , also called Aqua-Linie , is a metro line that connects the twin cities of Noida and Greater Noida in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh . In addition, it is [obsolete] with the Delhi Metro networkconnected and act as a feeder to the Delhi Metro. In future, the connection will be possible via a footbridge between the Noida Sector 52 and Noida Sector 51 stations. Therefore, this line is included in the network of the Delhi Metro, even if it is not operated by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). It is therefore also called "Aqua Line", as a color designation is common for the lines in the Delhi Metro network. The route length is 29.7 kilometers. The line opened on January 25, 2019.

history

The state government of Uttar Pradesh decided to build this line in October 2014. The decision also included the extension of line 3 of the Dehi metro to provide a connection to the Aqua line. Construction work started in October 2015 and should be completed by March 2017. There were few delays during construction, so construction work on the elevated railway line could be completed in July. The first cars were delivered in December 2017. so that a first test run could be started at the end of December. The route's power supply is still difficult.

At the beginning of January 2018, 90 percent of the tracks had been laid and 80 percent of the work on the electrical and mechanical systems had been completed. The work on the signal systems was 65 percent complete. Most recently there was a delay in the supply of electricity to the metro line. This was originally supposed to be made by December 2017, but could not be completed until the beginning of March 2018. A 400 kV connection in sector 148 now supplies the metro line. Test runs on the entire route can now begin in April 2018. The opening is now planned for the second half of 2018. 11 trains are required to start operations. Three of these had already been delivered by March 2018. A total of 19 trains were ordered. Another three trains were delivered in June 2018. The test run is now being carried out over the entire route, which will take two months. The opening took place on January 25, 2019 by the Prime Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath.

The planned pedestrian bridge from Noida Sector 51 station to Line 4 of the Delhi Metro will only be able to be built from 2019. Before implementation, the commercial space between the two stations must first be planned before the course and execution of the transition can be determined. In addition, the station on line 4 must first be removed. Therefore, construction will start at the beginning of 2019 at the earliest.

With the opening of the Aqua line, however, there is still no connection to the Delhi Metro, as line 3 (blue line) has not yet been extended and the line has only been in operation up to sector 32 in Noida. The route to the center of Delhi must therefore be made by other means of transport, e.g. B. continued in a taxi to get to the next metro station.

business

Tickets

A separate ticket system is planned for the use of the Aqua Line, which will not be compatible with the Travel Cards or Metro Cards of the Delhi Metro. The Noida Metro Rail Company (NMRC) issues an open payment card that can also be used for other public transport such as buses and taxis in Noida. Shops in Noida should also accept the card for payment. This is required by the changed legislation in India, which provides for a regionally uniform system for the metro's payment systems for public transport and small shops. As the Delhi Metro does not want to redesign its existing system to meet the new requirements for Noida, the Delhi Metro's public transport card for Noida will not be entered. Therefore, there will be no uniform and comprehensive tariff for shared use of the metro from Noida to Delhi.

In contrast to the Delhi Metro, there will be no tokens for single journeys , but paper tickets with barcodes.

The price of the trip is between 9 and 50 INR depending on the distance. There is also a discount on the fare for using the payment card.
