Godfrey Ho

Godfrey Ho (* 1948 in Hong Kong as Chi Kueng Ho ) is a Chinese film director from Hong Kong who directed numerous ninja films in the 1980s .

Ho began his career with Shaw Brothers as an assistant director to Chang Cheh . At this time there was also a collaboration with John Woo .

Ho's working style was to re-cut existing films that had been bought cheaply by his clients and to supplement them with material he had shot himself, so that new films emerged. This way of working was very inexpensive, but only produced films that were perceived as inferior, as the original material and the scenes that were turned off did not match. Because of the number and quality of his films, Ho is also known as the " Ed Wood of Hong Kong cinema ". Between 1980 and 1990, Ho made over eighty films. Many of his works have become cult films and are considered involuntarily funny due to their poor quality. In the course of his career, Ho has acted under more than forty different names, including Godfrey Hall, Zhi Jiang He, Benny Ho, Chi-Mou Ho, Chun-Sing Ho, Charles Lee, Stanley Chan, George King, Tomas Tang, Bruce Lambert , Tommy Cheung, Tommy Cheng, Tommy Leung, Alton Cheung, Ho Jeung Keung, Fong Ho and Kurt Spielberg. Recurring actors in Ho's films include: B. Pierre Kirby , Richard Harrison, and Andy Chworowsky .
