The Goetheschule , which has been a state elementary and special needs school "Johann Wolfgang von Goethe" since 2007 , in the Thuringian city of Greiz , Marienstraße 12/14, is housed in a school building that was built between 1905 and 1908 and is a listed building. The building complex was renovated from 2004 to 2007, and the last construction phase was handed over on July 18, 2007.

description

The school building consists of several differently shaped structures joined together in "picturesque" groupings with hip roofs and mansard roofs , which are covered with red plain tiles. The typical contemporary reform architecture is on a natural stone plinth brightly painted plaster - facades . The hipped roof of the highest component is crowned by a massive roof turret, which has a tower clock with carillon . Original wooden fixtures have been preserved in the stairwells.

In order to create a barrier-free connection between the rooms and the school yard , an elevator was added during the renovation . Nest boxes are attached to the facade .
