Gola Gokaran Nath , also Gola Gokarannath , is a city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh . It is a small town on the banks of the Sarayan River and is surrounded by dense tropical forest. It is the second largest city in the Lakhimpur Kheri district .
The city is part of the Lakhimpur Kheri district. Gola Gokaran Nath has the status of Nagar Palika Parishad . The city is divided into 25 wards . On the cut-off date of the 2011 census it had 61,444 inhabitants, of which 31,415 were men and 28,757 were women. Hindus make up the majority of the city's population with a share of over 75%. The literacy rate in 2011 was 81.85%.
The city has a well-known temple, the Gola Gokaran Nath Temple , which was built in honor of the god Shiva and attracts pilgrims from the area. There is also a large sugar cane mill in town.
