The Golden Cap (English for gold cap ) is a 2870 m high mountain in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . In the Queen Alexandra chain of the Transantarctic Mountains , it is the highest point on the ridge between Mount Falla and Fremouw Peak .
A team from Ohio State University , which explored the Queen Alexandra chain between 1966 and 1967, named the mountain descriptively after the golden-yellow sandstone from which the mountain is made.
