The Golden Rose Synagogue was built 150 years ago in what was then Yekaterinoslav, today's Dnipro.

Around 1924 the synagogue building was used as a workers' club and warehouse, and instead of the Star of David , the state coat of arms of the Soviet Union was affixed to the portico .

In 1996 the synagogue building was returned to the Jewish community, and in 1999 the restoration began, led by the local architect A. Dolnik of Jewish descent, with the German-British-Israeli architect and sculptor Frank Meisler designing the foyer, the prayer room and the Torah shrine .

Above the entrance to the sanctuary is a depiction of the Golden Rose Synagogue designed by Frank Meisler.

There is a small rotunda between the sanctuary / prayer room and the entrance area . This is labeled with the first sentence of the Shema Yisrael , with the Hebrew text running from the opposite side to the left from the direction of the entrance, while the Russian version runs to the right until the two meet. The doors to the Aaron haKodesh symbolize the Ten Commandments .

There are plans to build a Jewish museum called "Tkumah" (revival) adjacent to the synagogue, as well as a community center with a library, soup kitchen, classrooms and offices.

The director of the Jewish community of Dnipro is Vyacheslav Brez , and the chief rabbi of Dnipro Shmuel Kamenizki is also a leading member of the Jewish community of Ukraine.
