The golden-coat tree kangaroo ( Dendrolagus pulcherrimus ) is a species from the kangaroo family (Macropodidae).
description
The fur has a maroon color and is lighter on the belly. The neck, shoulders, cheeks and feet are yellowish in color. The ears are white. Two yellow stripes run down the back. The long tail is brightly curled. The skin of the face is pink in color. Because of the strong similarity, the species is listed by some authors as a subspecies of the Goodfellow tree kangaroo .
distribution and habitat
The golden- mantled tree kangaroo is endemic to the mountain forests of northern New Guinea . The main distribution area includes the Torricelli Mountains and the Foja Mountains .
Danger
The gold-coat tree kangaroo is considered to be the most endangered species of tree kangaroo . It has already been extinct in large parts of its original range. In the Red List of the IUCN , the species is "critically endangered" as performed.
