Goldschmidt is an impact crater on the moon to the north of the moon's front. The rim of the crater is relatively heavily eroded and the western part is covered by the younger Anaxagoras crater .

The crater was named by the IAU in 1935 after the Franco-German astronomer Hermann Goldschmidt .
