In 2018, the company installed around 28,500 systems with a total output of 44 gigawatts. Based on the newly installed capacity of 6,660 megawatts , Goldwind was the second largest manufacturer of onshore wind turbines worldwide after Vestas in 2018 (2017: 5,400 MW; 2016: 6,400 MW; 2015: 7,800 MW; 2014: 4,728 MW).

The company is the largest single shareholder of the Saarland manufacturer Vensys through Goldwind Windenergy GmbH, based in Hamburg, with 70% . There is a license partnership between the two companies for gearless drive technology.

In the United States , the wind turbines are sold by the subsidiary Goldwind Americas based in Chicago .

Plant types

Goldwind manufactures and builds systems for onshore and offshore locations. PMDD is an acronym for p ermanent m agnet d irect d rive. It describes the gearless direct drive with a permanent magnet synchronous generator .
