Gommer Höhenweg

The Gommer Höhenweg is one of the most famous high -altitude hikes in Switzerland . It was opened in 1976 and leads from Bellwald ( 1559  m above sea level ) via Münster VS ( 1380  m ) to Oberwald ( 1368  m ). The highest point is Reckingerbach at around 1800  m . The path leads high above the Goms through forests, lush alpine meadows and barren rocky landscapes. In 2012 the Gommer Höhenweg was the first hiking trail in Switzerland to receive the Premium Trail hiking seal of the German Hiking Institute (Deutsches Wanderinstitut eV).

Walking times

The path is over 27 km long. The pure hiking time is approx. 9 hours. The Gommer Höhenweg can also be hiked in individual stages. The Gommer Höhenweg can be reached in 20 to 30 minutes from all communities in Goms . The return to the starting point is possible from any village with the Matterhorn-Gotthard-Bahn . The path is accessible from June to October.
