Gonzo was a Swabian rock band from Stuttgart .

history

Gonzo performed live for the first time in Backnang in the summer of 1989 , at the SDR's “Talents to the Microphone” music competition .

In 1993 Gonzo played live at the IGA 1993 in Stuttgart, together with Wolle Kriwanek and Grachmusikoff . In the following time she appeared on regional radio and TV from time to time. During this time the band released their first album Transpirativ on the label On Air Records with the producer "Vinnie Meyer" alias Dieter Streck from SDR. The second CD is co-produced in 1995 by Frank Rössler (keyboardist at Sinner).

Since the third CD En Dein'r Nahe 1999, the band has been producing their albums on their own. Distribution licenses are granted to various music publishers.

In 1997 Gonzo was part of the exhibition and the accompanying volume "Swabian Pictures - For the Construction of a Regional Character" of the Ludwig Uhland Institute for Empirical Cultural Studies at the University of Tübingen (page 176ff.).

In 2003 the band won first place in the SWR4 competition "es funkt" with their entry "Böblingen Hymne". In 2004 they celebrated 15 years of Gonzo. This was followed by a tour through Baden-Württemberg with a cross-section of the most famous songs of the band's 15-year history. In 2008 Gonzo contributed a “Kickers Hymn” entitled “Mir send blue” to a “Fan Songs” CD by the Stuttgarter Kickers. In 2011 Gonzo composed the hymn "Musberger Ringerlied" for the wrestlers of the Bundesliga club TSV Musberg.

In 2013 the band broke up. 2014: Ex-band member Olli Petersen founded the rock theater formation Odeng under the pseudonym "Olli Zischt".
