Jens Balzer from Deutschlandfunk Kultur says that the artistically demanding electronic artist succeeds in creating a piece of wonderfully ambivalent auratics with the soundtrack. Oneohtrix Point Never alias Daniel Lopatin indulge in the icy-melancholy coldness of the epic synth-pop sound of the 1980s, says Balzer. The irritations emanating from the music are also appealing, so it often remains unclear in the overlapping soundtracks whether a guitar sounds like a synthesizer or a synthesizer like a guitar, which is an essential aspect of Lopatin's art, according to Balzer.
