In February 2008, Google Sites was introduced as a new service from Google. The software uses the JotSpot technology. The Google service has been freely accessible since March 2008.

Functions

Users can choose from a variety of ready-made page types and designs. Simple pages for texts, files, lists and forums are possible. Access to these can be controlled by the user via invitations, whereby the invited users can either be appointed as the owner of the website, as employees or only given read access. In addition, you can decide whether the site should be publicly available on the Internet or only for certain people.

Restrictions

The free storage space available per Google site was limited to 100 MB in classic Google Sites, "Google Apps Professional" users had 10 GB available.

There is no RSS feature that would inform about changes to the pages. However, users can subscribe to the pages and are then informed of changes to the pages by email.
