The Goose Iceland State Park is located at a height of 7 m above sea level between the Aransas Bay and St. Charles Bay on the Gulf of Mexico. The state park is located north of Rockport in Aransas County in the US state of Texas .
The 130-acre site was acquired between 1931 and 1935, designated a state park, and established by the Civilian Conservation Corps . The main attraction is a Virginia oak that has been dubbed the "Big Tree" and has been known as the State Champion Coastal Live Oak since 1969 . The 13.50 m high tree has a trunk circumference of about 10.67 meters and the crown diameter is 27.50 m.
The coastal areas are not suitable for swimming and consist of marshland, swampy areas or oyster shells . Boating, fishing, nature and bird watching are popular leisure activities for park visitors. Accommodation options are available.
The coastal waters are home to catfish , black and red drummers , various types of flounder, trout , sharks, convict bream and tarpon .
