Gorgophonos (King)
Gorgophonos ( Greek Γοργοφόνος ), king of the Epidaurs , is a figure in Greek mythology .
According to an oracle , Gorgophonos, expelled from Epidaurus, was supposed to found a city in Argolis there where he would find the pommel of a sword scabbard ( μύκης ). Gorgophonos found the Mykes of Perseus , which he had lost in flight, and founded Mycenae at this point .
In another story, Perseus himself was the founder of this city.
