The Gostyner Kreisbahn connected the district town of Gostyń in the former Prussian province of Posen with the southern district area.
history
The former district of Gostyn received two railway lines from the Prussian State Railways in 1888, which run through it from the Lissa junction in an easterly direction; one leads via Gostyn to Jarotschin, the other in the south via Kröben to Krotoschin. After Gostyn was connected to the neighboring district to the north by the Kostener Kreisbahnen from 1900 , a north-south route within the district was missing.
The district of Gostyn and the railway construction company Lenz & Co finally opened a standard-gauge small railway on November 4, 1903, which led from Gostyn to the south via Domachowo / Berghausen to Kröben, where the state railway was crossed and finally at Gostkowo / Bittershof station in the Rawitsch district after 27 , 4 kilometers ended. Here there was a connection to the Liegnitz-Rawitscher railway company , which also belonged to the Lenz Group and was responsible for the operation of the circular railway. The center of operations was Kröben, where they connected the state train station with the city train station (2.1 km).
On October 1, 1904, the 20-kilometer Domachowo – Kartzen branch line was added, where there was also a connection to the state railway. There was hardly any passenger traffic here; The transport of agricultural goods was the main task of the Kleinbahn. In 1911 the freight volume was 100,966 tons.
The vehicles were: three steam locomotives, three passenger and one baggage car and 51 freight cars. The route network covered a total of 47 kilometers in 1914 and 55 kilometers in 1944.
During the Second World War, the eight kilometer long Gostkowo / Bittershof – Görchen line was sold by the Liegnitz – Rawitscher railway to the “Gostinger Kreisbahn” - as it was now called - and management was handed over to the Gaubahnen Wartheland .
