The Kostener Kreisbahnen operated the small railway line from Kosten (Polish Kościan ) via Jägern ( Jerka ) to Gostingen ( Gostyń ).

history

The former Kreis Kosten was in the south of the former Prussian province of Posen . From the district town of Kosten, which had around 7,800 inhabitants at the beginning of the 20th century and had been connected to the railway network by the main line Posen – Lissa (Poznań– Leszno ) since 1856 , the standard-gauge small railway ran via the junction station Jägern in a southeastern direction to the neighboring district town of Gostingen on the Jarotschin – Lissa state railway ( Jarocin –Leszno).

The line was built by the United Railway Construction and Operating Company in Berlin and put into operation on October 6, 1900 in its full length of 41 kilometers. From January 1, 1911, the district itself took over management. Four steam locomotives ( T 3 ), six passenger cars, two baggage cars and 30 freight cars were available.

After the First World War it came under Polish administration and was called Kościanska Kolej Powiatowa. The Gaubahnen Wartheland last operated during the Second World War .
