Got-djent.com is an online platform that was founded in 2009 by the Belgian Sander Dieleman. She made an important contribution to the Djent movement and is now one of the most important communication options for followers of the scene.

The idea for the name came from a merchandise article by the band Periphery in the form of a T-shirt with the slogan “got djent?” Written on the chest.

General

The site allows registered users to post new content, which is published after review by a few moderators. There is also a comment function with which registered users can leave their opinion on each post. A profile is created for each band from the movement, where fans of the band can register as such. Using this information, the portal publishes the "Map of Djent" at irregular intervals, which is created according to a certain algorithm and is intended to provide an overview of the direction in which the scene is developing. The online platform is financed exclusively through donations and does not use advertising for the time being, as far as the financing of the site allows.

In addition to the website, there is also a YouTube channel on which interviews and previews for upcoming publications are uploaded. Before each video, an intro is played, the music of which was composed by Aurélien Perreira, the guitarist of the band Uneven Structure , and is commonly known as Djingle .

history

The idea for the site was created in late 2009 by some users of Djent group of the Internet portal Last.fm . The aim of the site should be to create an online community that should make it easier for users to exchange new music on the move. As a result, the former student at Ghent University and programmer Sander Dieleman, who often appears under the user name “benanne”, founded the website on November 18, 2009 with a few friends. Over time, the hobby project became an integral part of the Djent scene, which has brought them together over the years. Since 2011, a band contest has been held annually in cooperation with the Euroblast Festival , the winners of which are allowed to play at the festival.

traffic

According to its own statements, the site received more than half a million views within a month. In March 2013, the site was ranked 222,260 worldwide on Alexa .
